Why FenoraFenora Guide11 min read

Our crafting process.

Every Fenora ring is made by hand, to order, by a master jeweller. From the moment an order is confirmed, a specific IGI certified diamond is selected, a setting is crafted around that exact stone, and the finished ring goes through a 22-point quality inspection before it leaves the workshop. This guide walks through every step of that process so you know exactly what happens before your ring arrives.

01

Why every Fenora ring is made to order

Fenora does not hold a stock of finished rings. Every ring is made individually, to the specific requirements of a specific order. The stone is sourced to your brief, the setting is crafted around that specific stone, and every element is made for you.

This takes longer than buying from a shelf. It takes 10–12 working days from order confirmation to delivery. But it means the ring you receive has been made for your specific stone, inspected as a complete finished piece, and approved before it leaves the workshop.

What made-to-order means for your ring
  • The setting is made to the exact dimensions of your specific stone — not the average of a size range
  • Every prong is formed around the actual diamond being set, not a generic diameter
  • The 22-point quality check covers the complete ring as it will be worn — stone, setting, band and finish together
  • No two Fenora rings are exactly the same — each is a unique piece made for a unique stone
“When we make a ring, we are not selecting it from a cabinet. We are making it. There is a real difference in the result.”
— Yash Chandpara, Founder

The complete process — step by step

From the day an order is confirmed to the day the ring is delivered — every stage, in sequence.

  • 01
    Stone selection and sourcing
Yash Chandpara selects the specific IGI certified lab grown diamond that matches your brief. The carat weight, cut grade, colour and clarity are confirmed against your order specification. The stone is verified against its IGI certificate and the laser inscription on the girdle is confirmed before the ring is made around it.
  • 02
    Design confirmation
The setting design is confirmed against the specific stone selected. For custom designs, our design team creates the final design brief. For collection designs, setting proportions are checked against the stone dimensions to confirm the fit is correct for this specific stone.
  • 03
    Metal preparation
The ring metal is prepared — gold or platinum is worked to the required alloy, refined to the correct karat, formed into the basic ring shank and prepared for setting work. All Fenora metals are recycled and refined to 18KT or 950 standard.
  • 04
    Setting construction
The setting is constructed by hand by a master jeweller. The prongs, bezel or pavé structure is formed to match the exact dimensions of the specific stone. This is the most technically demanding stage — the precision of the setting determines both how the ring looks and how securely the stone will be held for a lifetime of wear.
  • 05
    Stone setting
The IGI certified diamond is hand-set into the completed setting. The prongs are pressed, the bezel is formed or the pavé beads are raised around each stone. Setting quality is the most critical factor in the long-term security of the diamond.
  • 06
    Finishing and polish
The ring is finished — metal surfaces are refined, the chosen finish is applied (high polish, satin or brushed), all joins are cleaned and all surfaces are brought to the final standard. White gold rings receive rhodium plating at this stage.
  • 07
    22-point quality inspection
The completed ring undergoes a systematic 22-point quality inspection before packaging. Every prong, every stone, every surface dimension is checked against the order specification. Only rings that pass every point are approved for dispatch.
  • 08
    Packaging and delivery
The ring is packaged in Fenora presentation packaging with the IGI certificate and dispatched by free express tracked courier across Australia. Most international deliveries arrive within 2–4 business days of dispatch.
03

The 22-Point quality inspection — what it covers

Before any Fenora ring is packaged, it goes through a 22-point quality inspection. This is a systematic assessment of every element of the ring against a defined standard — not a visual glance.

What the 22-point inspection covers
  • Stone security — every stone is checked for zero movement under a probe. Any detectable movement results in the ring returning for additional setting work
  • Prong integrity — each individual prong tip is checked for correct formation, correct height and correct alignment
  • Setting levelness — the stone is checked to be seated level in the setting. No tilt, no raise on one side
  • Metal finish quality — the complete surface is examined under magnification for any marks, scratches, residue or finish inconsistencies
  • Dimensions — ring size, stone height, band width and depth are measured against the order specification
  • Rhodium plating coverage (white gold) — even, complete coverage confirmed
  • IGI certificate match — the laser inscription on the stone girdle is matched against the IGI certificate number
“The inspection is the last thing that happens before the ring leaves us. If anything is not right at that point, the ring does not leave. We would rather take an extra day than send something we are not completely satisfied with.”

Materials — what goes into every ring

Every material in a Fenora ring meets a specific standard. The metal, the diamond and all accent stones are sourced to defined criteria.

Diamond standards
  • Every centre stone is IGI certified — no exceptions. No stone enters a Fenora ring without an independent IGI certificate verifying its quality
  • Minimum cut grade: Excellent. Fenora does not use Very Good or lower cut grades for engagement ring centre stones
  • Accent and halo stones are selected to match the colour grade of the centre stone. Visual consistency across the complete ring is non-negotiable
Metal standards
  • 18KT Yellow Gold — 75% pure gold. All Fenora gold is recycled and refined to 18KT standard
  • 18KT White Gold — 75% pure gold, alloyed with palladium and white metals. Rhodium plated for a consistent bright white finish
  • 18KT Rose Gold — 75% pure gold, alloyed with copper for the characteristic warm pink tone
  • Platinum 950 — 95% pure platinum. Naturally white, no plating required. The densest and most durable fine jewellery metal

Custom design — how it works at Fenora

Every ring in the Fenora collection was designed by our design team. Custom design at Fenora means working directly with our design team to create something that does not exist in the current collection — a design developed from your specific brief.

Custom design at Fenora follows the same timeline as collection pieces — 10–12 working days for most designs. More complex pieces with intricate hand-engraving or unusual structural requirements may take longer. Yash Chandpara confirms the timeline before any order is placed.

  • 01
Bring reference images to the consultation
Images communicate aesthetic preferences more precisely than words. Any rings or design elements you have saved — from Pinterest, Instagram, anywhere — give our design team a concrete starting point.
  • 02
Our design team develops the design brief
From your reference images and the specific stone chosen, our design team develops a design brief that captures the aesthetic you want. For complex custom pieces, a reference illustration may be provided for approval before crafting begins.
  • 03
Design is confirmed before any metal is touched
The complete design brief is confirmed and agreed in writing before any crafting begins. There are no surprises in a custom Fenora ring — what you approve is what is made.
  • 04
    Crafting follows the same process
Stone selection, setting construction, stone setting, finishing and the 22-point quality inspection all follow the same process as collection pieces. The quality standard is identical.
  • 05
    Delivery within the confirmed timeline
Most custom designs are delivered within the same 10–12 working days window as collection pieces.
06

The most common crafting questions

Questions Yash Chandpara is asked most often about the crafting and production process.

Can I see the ring being made?
Not in real time — the workshop operates as a professional production environment. However, Yash Chandpara can share progress photographs at key stages for custom pieces if requested. For collection pieces, the timeline is typically short enough that photographs mid-production are not usually necessary.
What if I want to change something after I have ordered?
Changes to an order can typically be accommodated within 24 hours of placement, before crafting has begun. Contact Yash Chandpara immediately by WhatsApp if you need to make a change. Once the stone has been set, changes to the setting design are not possible without starting again.
What happens if the ring does not fit?
One complimentary resize is included within 60 days of delivery. Contact Fenora, a pre-paid return shipping label is provided, and the ring is resized in the workshop and returned by free express courier.
Can I order a ring as a surprise without knowing the size?
Yes — and many people do. There are two approaches: order in a standard size and resize after the proposal (the complimentary resize covers this), or bring any of her existing rings to the consultation so Yash Chandpara can estimate her size from the ring diameter.
What if the ring arrives damaged?
The insured packaging is designed to prevent it. In the event of any damage in transit, contact Fenora immediately with photographs. The ring is returned at Fenora's cost and repaired or replaced under the warranty. The transit insurance covers the full replacement value.
