For your lifestyle.

Trade pro, athlete, office, creative, surgeon. Honest matching of metal, finish, and width to your real, everyday life.

Your wedding band lives where you live. Pick the metal, finish, and width that match the actual life you live — not the one you'd live in a magazine.

We've made bands for surgeons who can't wear them in surgery, for boxers who hit pads three days a week, for tradesmen running framing crews, for bankers in suits, for tattoo artists with both hands inked. Each of them got different advice. Here's how we think about it.

The five lifestyles, and what they need

1. The trade professional · Hands-on every day

Construction. Carpentry. Mechanic. Welder. Linesman. Plumber. Anyone whose hands are the primary tool.

Recommended: 14KT yellow gold or tantalum, 5–6mm width, hammered or matte finish.
Why: 14KT is harder than 18KT (more alloy = more durable). Tantalum is virtually scratch-proof. Hammered hides every nick from steel beams or framing nails. Wider widths feel substantial and don't get crushed by glove pressure.

Avoid: Polished platinum (shows every scratch). Plain dome (wears thin at the points of contact). Channel set (stones can pop out under pressure).

Pro tip: Many tradesmen wear a $20 silicone backup ring on the job and switch to their real band off-duty. Smart move — protects the investment without being precious about it.

2. The athlete · Active, gym, outdoors

Weightlifters. Crossfit. Marathon runners. Cyclists. Climbers. Surfers. Anyone whose hands are gripping bars, ropes, handlebars, or rocks.

Recommended: 14KT or 18KT gold, 4–5mm width, satin or brushed finish, comfort-fit interior.
Why: Lighter weight stays out of the way during dynamic movement. Comfort-fit (rounded interior) prevents the ring from grinding against your bone during heavy lifts. Satin/brushed hides sweat-driven micro-corrosion better than polished.

Avoid: Anything wider than 6mm (catches on bars during bench press). High-set stones. Knife-edge profiles (catch on rope, gear).

Honest call: If you're a serious weightlifter (200kg+ bench), wear silicone in the gym. Even tantalum can dent under direct impact with iron. A $4,000 platinum band against a 20kg dumbbell will lose every time.

3. The office professional · Suit, screen, conference room

Lawyer. Banker. Consultant. Executive. Anyone whose hands are typing, presenting, signing.

Recommended: 18KT gold or platinum, 4–5mm width, plain dome or polished beveled finish.
Why: Refined widths sit cleanly under shirt cuffs. Polished metals catch boardroom light beautifully. Heritage metals (gold, platinum) signal taste in environments that recognize it.

Avoid: Hammered (reads as casual in formal contexts). Tantalum (can read as too modern for traditional industries — though changing).
Pro tip: If your watch is gold-toned, lean yellow gold. If it's stainless steel, lean platinum or white gold. Coordinate the metals across both pieces.

4. The creative · Architect, designer, artist

Designers. Architects. Brand strategists. Photographers. Tattoo artists. Anyone whose work is judged on aesthetic taste.

Recommended: Two-tone, mixed metal, hidden diamond, or 18KT rose gold, 5–7mm width.
Why: Creative professionals are judged on signature choices. A standard plain band is a missed opportunity. Two-tone says "I think about details." A hidden diamond says "I have one secret." Rose gold says "I'm not afraid of warmth."
Pro tip: The Mateo (tantalum + platinum inlay) and Knox (yellow + white gold two-tone) are our most-ordered creative-professional bands.

5. The healthcare professional · Surgical, sterile, gloved

Surgeons. Dentists. Nurses. Veterinarians.

Recommended: Plain platinum or 18KT yellow gold, 3–4mm width, smooth profile.
Why: Slim widths fit under nitrile gloves. Smooth profiles don't tear gloves or trap pathogens. No texture, no stones, nothing that catches.
The reality: Most surgeons we've fitted don't wear their wedding band during surgery — hospital protocol or personal hygiene preference. They wear it everywhere else, and a slim, refined band is easier to take on and off twenty times a day.

The biggest pairing mistake is buying the band you wish your life looked like — instead of the band that suits the life you actually have.

Edge cases worth flagging

Frequent travellers: Tantalum or platinum. They don't tarnish in humid climates, don't react to sea air, don't need polishing tools you can't pack.
Sensitive skin: Platinum (95% pure), tantalum (zero alloy), or 18KT (low alloy content). Avoid 10KT and 14KT white gold (highest nickel content).
Hot climates / India / SE Asia: Heavier metals (platinum, tantalum) stay cooler against the skin. Lighter golds heat up faster.
Cold climates: Slimmer widths (under 5mm) — your fingers shrink in cold and a wide band can rotate.
