How to customise a men's wedding band.

A Fenora men's wedding band can be customised in every dimension — width, profile, finish, metal, engraving, diamond inlay and surface texture. This guide covers every customisation option and how to brief Yash Chandpara for the most personal possible result.

01

Why customise a men's wedding band — the case for it

A wedding band is worn for a lifetime. The effort of customising it — specifying the exact width, the exact finish, the exact inner engraving — produces a ring that is genuinely personal rather than a standard-size pick from a catalogue. The ring marks the most significant day of a man's life. It deserves thought.

Customisation at Fenora does not mean starting from nothing. It means specifying the details of a ring built from a well-established range of options — width, metal, finish, engraving, stone — to produce a specific, individual result. The process happens in the consultation. Yash Chandpara guides it.

What can be customised in a men's band at Fenora
  • Width — any width from 3mm to 10mm in 0.5mm increments
  • Metal — 18KT yellow, white or rose gold; platinum 950
  • Surface finish — high polish, satin, brushed, hammered, or combination
  • Inner profile — flat or comfort fit
  • Engraving — inner or outer surface, any text or symbol
  • Diamond or coloured stone inlay — flush set, any stone
“Every men's band we make is made to order. Customisation is not an upgrade — it is the default. The question is how specific you want to be with the details.”
02

Width customisation — beyond the standard options

Standard men's wedding band widths are 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm and 8mm. At Fenora, any width can be specified in 0.5mm increments.

Non-standard widths and why they matter
  • 4.5mm — between the standard narrow and the standard medium. Suits men who find 4mm too delicate but 5mm slightly too prominent
  • 5.5mm — between medium and classic. Very popular with men who want more presence than a 5mm but not the full weight of a 6mm
  • 3.5mm — for men who prefer the narrowest possible visible band. More substantial than women's bands but very slim for men's
Hand SizeRecommended Width Range
Small hands, slim fingers3.5–4.5mm
Average hands4.5–5.5mm
Larger hands5.5–6.5mm
Very large hands6.5–8mm

Engraving — the most personal customisation

Engraving transforms a beautiful ring into a deeply personal one. It is the most common customisation choice for men's wedding bands at Fenora.

Inner engraving — invisible, always present
  • A date — the wedding date, the date they met, a significant date. The most common inner engraving
  • Initials — the partner's initials, or both partners' initials together
  • A short personal phrase — something meaningful to the couple. Maximum of approximately 25 characters in a standard 5mm band
  • Coordinates — the GPS coordinates of where they met, where the proposal happened, where the wedding takes place
Outer engraving — visible, distinctive
  • A repeating pattern — geometric, organic, Celtic, abstract. Creates a surface design that makes the ring completely individual
  • A symbol — a personal symbol with specific meaning. Can be combined with the standard band finish or used on a dedicated section of the band
“Inner engraving is the most personal thing you can do to a wedding band. It is invisible to everyone except the person who takes it off. That privacy is part of what makes it meaningful.”
04

Diamond and stone inlay — stones with restraint

A single diamond or coloured stone set flush into a men's band is one of the most subtle and personal customisations available. The stone sits level with or just below the metal surface — it is not a raised setting, not a pavé row. It is a discrete presence.

Stone inlay options
  • Single diamond flush-set — one round brilliant diamond set flush into the band at the centre top. Invisible from most angles, revealed from directly above. A very personal choice
  • Three-stone channel — three diamonds in a small channel section at the top of the band. Visible but structured
  • Coloured stone — a sapphire, ruby or emerald set flush. Adds colour and personal meaning. A birthstone inlay is a common choice

Customisation questions — answered

Common questions about customising a men's wedding band.

Does customisation add to the timeline?
Most customisations — width, finish, engraving — are accommodated within the standard 10–12 working days timeline. Very complex custom outer engravings or unusual materials may require additional time. Yash Chandpara confirms the timeline during the consultation.
Can I engrave the ring after it has been delivered?
Yes. Engraving can be added to any Fenora ring after delivery. The ring is returned on a pre-paid label, engraved and returned. Contact Fenora to arrange.
Can I change the finish of an existing ring?
Yes. A ring with a high-polish finish can be re-finished to satin or brushed by a jeweller. The process removes a very small amount of metal from the surface to create the new texture. Fenora can perform this as a paid service.
What is the maximum characters for inner engraving?
Approximately 20–30 characters depending on the band width and the font chosen. Yash Chandpara confirms the specific character limit for the exact band width during the consultation.
